Makare Publishing Company is a publisher of African-centered books--books by and about Black people that center on their African heritage. MA-KA-RE is a Kemetic word that means "Truth is the Soul of God." Makare Publishing was co-founded by Dr. Asa G. Hilliard III - Baffour Amankwatia II and Dr. Nefertari Patricia Hilliard Nunn in 1996.
